Location

Known as the Venice of the North, Cape Coral has 400 miles of navigable waterways; that’s more miles of canals than any other city on Earth!

Naturally enough, boats are a way of life here and Picnic Island is an ideal first destination with its white sandy beaches and places to explore.

Beaches are a wonderful place to relax and build sandcastles with the children – but don’t forget to spend some time walking along the shoreline if you have an interest in wildlife. At low tide you’ll have a chance of glimpsing manatees and in late afternoons you’ll see birds fishing for their dinner. Spend time beach-combing too, as no Florida holiday would be complete without examining some sea shells and sea dollars.  The really beautiful beaches nearby are on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Sanibel is the shell capital of Florida and we’ll say it again – the wild life on the Gulf beaches is amazing.

Trip Advisor says this: “Cape Coral is particularly famous for its fishing. If your idea of the perfect holiday is wetting a line in search of the catch of a lifetime, you may just have found your ideal destination. Be it from the shore or from a boat, Cape Coral is an angler’s paradise. Golf is also a very popular activity in Cape Coral. Whether you choose to tee off at the Golf Club of Cape Coral, one of the courses at the Royal Tee Country Club, or even venture slightly further afield, you are sure to find the perfect course suited to your abilities and requirements.”
